Lutein (Active ingredient)

Lutein is a carotenoid which plays an antioxidant role against free radicals from ultraviolet rays. Lutein is naturally present in high concentrations in the retina (more precisely in the macula) where its role is to protect the eye from intense light. Lutein supplements are therefore intended to prevent macular degeneration and cataracts. It is interesting to note that Lutein is better absorbed by the body in the presence of fat because it is fat soluble.
